SUPER-MATCH PROCEDURES

1. A standard MAC Super-Match is contested in a best 3 of 5 rounds format. Official
Championship Title matches are contested in a best 4 of 7 rounds format.
2. MAC utilizes a 3-foul system. If a competitor accumulates three fouls within a single
round, that competitor forfeits and loses the round.
3. MAC Referees may issue official warnings. Any two warnings given to a single
competitor will directly result in one foul.

ACTIONS CONSTITUTING AN OFFICIAL WARNING:
•Failing to listen to or comply with the immediate commands of the referee.
•Letting go of the table hand peg while the match is actively ongoing.
•Failing to return to the table promptly after the 1-minute rest interval between rounds has expired.

1. A coin flip determines which athlete chooses their preferred side of the table.
2. After each round, competitors must return to their respective corners for a 1-minute rest
period. If the referee determines that a puller is purposely wasting time when
commanded back to the table, the referee may award a warning before the next round
begins. If a second time-wasting warning is issued, a foul is then given.
3. No equipment (including wraps, tape, or support sleeves) may be worn from the elbow
down, with the exception of chalk. Venue entry bands are permitted.
4. Active bleeding must be treated to the referee's complete satisfaction. Band-Aids or
structural equivalents are allowed.
5. Any physical impairment due to alcohol or drugs leads to immediate event
disqualification.
6. Referees may stop a match due to equipment failure, warnings, fouls, or anything
determined to cause an unfair competitive result. The round will be restarted at the
referee's sole discretion.

CHALLENGES & THE GRIP SET-UP
OFFICIAL VIDEO CHALLENGES

If an athlete wishes to issue a challenge, they must do so immediately. Once the referee
has indicated that a challenge has been formally issued, both athletes must return to their
corners. Referees will review the footage and recall competitors once a final decision is
made. Video challenges may only happen if the event production team possesses active
video replay capability.

THE GRIP SET-UP
Competitors may negotiate their preferred grip; however, this must be established and
agreed upon during the rules meeting the day prior to the event. If no mutual agreement is
reached, the standard MAC configuration applies:
MAC Set Grip: Athletes must place their elbows on their elbow pad, with their hands flat in
the prescribed "Karate Chop" position, keeping the elbow firmly on the pad and their palms
flat against their opponent's palm. Wrists must be straight, aligned slightly angled at the
center of the table.
Once the palms are firmly together and the webbing height is verified as perfectly even, the
referee will give the following exact sequence of commands:
1. "CLOSE YOUR THUMBS."
2. "NO LOADING, DON'T MOVE."
3. "GO!"

5. REFEREE ACTIONS IN THE SET-UP
•The referee will ensure that elbows are bare and properly placed on the correct side of
the center circle. This is determined by which hand is being contested (right side of the
circle for right-hand matches, left side of the circle for left-hand matches).
•The referee will quickly check that shoulders are correctly and squared up.
•The referee will grab the fingers of both competitors simultaneously.
•Prior to closing both competitors' hands simultaneously, the referee will state: "NO
LOADING."
•Once hands are closed and thumb knuckles are fully visible, the referee will maintain a
firm grip on both hands to ensure that there is no separation between the palms of the
competitors.
•The referee will say "Don't move," followed immediately by "GO" while simultaneously
releasing the pullers' hands.
•If the pullers' hands come apart (a "slip"), the referee will immediately apply the official
straps, and all remaining rounds of the match will stay in straps. All matches start
without the strap unless both athletes mutually agree beforehand to use it. All slips go
directly to the strap unless preceded by a definitive pin or foul.

Spatial Alignment Note:
The non-competing shoulder may be positioned as far back as the
11:00 o'clock position, and the competing shoulder may not cross the warning line of the
athlete's own elbow pad.
Orientation Standard: The left hand peg is considered 12:00 for right-handed matches; the
right hand peg is considered 12:00 for left-handed matches.

SUPER-MATCH RULES (FOULS)
All fouls are STOP fouls, meaning the match stops immediately and is restarted. Three
accumulated fouls within a round result in the loss of that round.
1. Covering the opponent's thumb knuckle during the setup phase.
2. Any movement after the command "DON'T MOVE" and before the "GO" command is
issued.
3. Touching one's own body (such as chin, shoulder, or head) to the active competing
hand.
4. An elbow foul, occurring when the exposing tip of the elbow elevates completely off the
elbow pad or exceeds a 1-inch depression off the surface.
5. Intentional foot contact with the opponent underneath the table.
6. Deliberate stalling (enforced at the Head Referee's discretion).
7. Poor sportsmanship (repeated infractions will result in direct disqualification).
8. Shifting or forcing an opponent off the center post after the command "NO LOADING" is
given.
9. Dropping the competing shoulder below the level of the elbow while in a neutral or
losing position.
10. Allowing the shoulder to cross the center line or touch the active competing hand.

SAFETY, FAIR PLAY, & POST-MATCH
SAFETY & FAIR PLAY
• All athletes compete strictly at their own risk.
• Referees hold the total responsibility for maintaining fair competition and strictly
enforcing all league rules.
• Any unsportsmanlike behavior may lead to immediate disqualification.
• All official decisions rendered by the referee team are final.
POST-MATCH PROCEDURES
1. The overall winner is determined by the best of 5 rounds format, unless the match is
contested for a MAC Championship Belt or is considered a Main Event, which requires
a best of 7 rounds format.
2. The referee formally announces the official result.
3. Any disputes must be made immediately. A head referee reserves the right to initiate an
official video review.
4. Prize money and performance bonuses are distributed post-match according to the
official outcome.
